Muskox (Ovibos moschatus) near wind farm, Nome, Alaska, USA

Muskox (Ovibos moschatus) is an Arctic hoofed mammal of the family Bovidae, noted for its thick coat and for the strong odor emitted during the seasonal rut by males, from which its name derives. This musky odor is used to attract females during mating season. Its Inuktitut name umingmak translates to the bearded one. EDITORS COMMENTS
This print captures the harmonious coexistence between nature and renewable energy in the breathtaking landscapes of Nome, Alaska. In this picturesque scene, a group of majestic Muskoxen gracefully roam near a wind farm, showcasing the delicate balance between wildlife and sustainable development. The Muskox (Ovibos moschatus), an iconic Arctic mammal known for its thick coat and distinctive musky odor during mating season, stands as a symbol of resilience in these remote regions. With their Inuktitut name "umingmak" translating to "the bearded one" these magnificent creatures embody strength and adaptability.
