EDITORS COMMENTS
This print captures the enigmatic figure of Butch Cassidy, an infamous American outlaw who wreaked havoc during the late 19th century. Born as Robert Leroy Parker in Beaver, Utah in 1866, Cassidy gained notoriety as a daring train robber and bank robber. He was also known for leading a gang called the Wild Bunch and being part of the notorious Hole-in-the-Wall Gang based at Wyoming's treacherous Hole-in-the-Wall Pass. The image portrays Cassidy's head and shoulders, showcasing his rugged features that exude both charisma and danger. His piercing gaze hints at a life filled with audacious exploits and constant evasion from law enforcement. Legend has it that Cassidy met his demise in 1908 alongside fellow outlaw Harry Longabaugh, famously known as the Sundance Kid. The duo allegedly fell victim to Bolivian police after successfully robbing a mule train carrying a silver mine payroll. This remarkable print is sourced from "Pictorial History of the Wild West" by James D Horan and Paul Sann, published in London in 1954. It offers us a glimpse into one of America's most iconic eras - the wild west - where outlaws like Butch Cassidy carved their names into history through their audacious crimes.
