The year was 326 BC, and Alexander's conquest of the Persian Empire had led him to the Indian subcontinent. King Porus, a powerful monarch, had amassed a formidable army, including a large number of war elephants. The elephants, with their massive size, thick skin, and long, curved tusks, were feared by many. However, Alexander, known for his courage and strategic prowess, was determined to overcome this formidable obstacle. In this print, we see Alexander on horseback, leading his troops into battle against the charging elephants. The elephants trumpet in defiance, their tusks raised high, ready to gore the Greek soldiers. The scene is chaotic, with arrows flying through the air, horses rearing, and soldiers shouting in a cacophony of noise. Despite the odds, Alexander's troops, with their discipline and determination, manage to hold their ground.
