The Balkan States Exhibition - Earls Court - Old Japan
The Balkan States Exhibition at Earls Court in 1907 was really two exhibitions in one. The main event featured a large Balkan village with practical working exhibits by native workers (see: 10922981). In the Empress Hall (as shown on this postcard), one could visit Old Japan for an extra shilling (5p) and see a Nikko temple and bridge, teahouses, geisha and spring time in old Japan with waterfalls, lotus pond and cherry blossom. One could also watch basket workers, fan painters, porcelain painters, Kyoto embroiders, umbrella makers and a lantern painter at work. Date: 1907
