Beira, Mozambique - Private tram-car system
Beira, Mozambique - The private tram-car system - undoubtedly one of the most unusual forms of conveyance in the world. The cars ran on tiny tracks which rose out of the sand and extended from one end of the town to the other, with branch lines running into the yards of shops and private houses. On some of the trucks there was only a bench, others are shaded by awnings, and a few had carriage-lamps and cushioned seats and carpets. (see also: 10520097) Date: circa 1907
