In this historic photograph, the empty Coronation Coach makes its departure from Westminster Abbey following the momentous event of Queen Elizabeth II's coronation on June 2, 1953. The Coach, adorned with intricate gold and crimson livery, stands as a symbol of the grandeur and tradition of the British Monarchy. The Queen, dressed in her magnificent robes and adorned with the Imperial State Crown, had just taken her oath during the ceremony, marking the formal beginning of her reign. The Coronation Coach, a magnificent horse-drawn carriage, has been a part of British coronation traditions since 1831. It was designed by Sir John Fowler and Sir Philip Cockerell and is considered one of the finest examples of Victorian craftsmanship. The Coach, drawn by six magnificent white horses, was led by the Yeomen of the Guard, who were dressed in their distinctive Tudor uniforms.
