Born on August 24, 1735, Augustus Henry FitzRoy was the eldest son of the 2nd Duke of Grafton and Lady Hester Grenville. He succeeded his father in 1757 and became a leading figure in British politics, serving as Lord Privy Seal (1765-1766), Lord President of the Council (1766-1767), and Prime Minister (1766-1767). During his tenure as Prime Minister, Grafton faced numerous challenges, including the Seven Years' War and the resulting national debt. His administration was marked by a focus on maintaining peace and stability, as well as a commitment to reducing the national debt through economical measures. Despite his efforts, Grafton's tenure as Prime Minister was short-lived, and he was succeeded by the Marquess of Rockingham in 1766.
