The Grand Duchess George of Russia (1876 - 1940), formerly Princess Maria of Greece, daughter of King George I of Greece and sister of King Constantine of Greece. Pictured at the hospital she set up in Harrogate, North Yorkshire for wounded soldiers during World War I. She had the fortune to be stranded in England when war broke out - her husband was arrested by Bolsheviks and shot in January 1919.
