Known as 'The Greatest Scot in Golf', Braid had already made history by winning the Open Championship a record seven times, and was a dominant figure in the world of golf during the early 20th century. The Americans, no doubt, were in awe of Braid's prowess and charisma. They had come to Scotland to learn from the best, and in Braid, they had found a mentor and friend. The group's body language speaks volumes about the mutual respect and admiration they held for one another. The year was 1923, and golf was in the midst of a golden age. The game was growing in popularity both in Europe and America, and the exchange of ideas and techniques between players from different continents was an essential part of its development.
