Evangeline is an epic poem by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow published in 1847 which describes the separation of Evangeline and her beloved Gabriel during the expulsion of the Acadian community from Nova Scotia by the British in 1755-1764. Evangeline: A Tender Reunion, by Frances Brundage (1914), is a poignant depiction of a scene from Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's epic poem, "Evangeline," first published in 1847. The poem tells the heart-wrenching story of the separation of Evangeline and her beloved Gabriel during the expulsion of the Acadian community from Nova Scotia by the British in the mid-18th century.
