EDITORS COMMENTS
Step back in time with this photograph of the Yarmouth Arms pub, located in the heart of Old Billingsgate, London. Dating back to the 1950s, this charming public house was once a beloved local watering hole, nestled among the bustling streets of the city. The image showcases the left facade of the pub, with its distinctive red brick exterior and ornate signage. The name "Yarmouth Arms" is proudly displayed, accompanied by the emblem of a ship's wheel and anchor. The pub's windows are adorned with colorful curtains, adding a cozy touch to the brickwork. The back of this vintage print reveals the trading record for the Yarmouth Arms, detailing its history from 1938 to 1961. Sadly, this historic pub was demolished in 1958, making this photograph an even more precious reminder of a bygone era. The Yarmouth Arms was once part of the Charrington and Company Limited estate, a prominent brewery in London during the 1950s. This pub, much like the others in the Charrington portfolio, was a staple in the community, offering a warm and welcoming atmosphere for locals and travelers alike. This photograph transports us back to a time when life moved at a slower pace, and the simple pleasure of a pint at the local pub was a cherished experience. The Yarmouth Arms may no longer stand, but its memory lives on through this beautiful and evocative image.
