Ruth Vincent with her son
Ruth Vincent (1877-1955), an English opera singer and actress. She began her career with the D'Oyly Carte opera company at the age of 17, and went on to appear in musical comedies, operas and concerts, including on Broadway. She was married to Lieutenant Colonel John Fraser of the Royal Horse Guards. She is photographed here with her son John Budge Fraser (1906-1977). The photograph is by Rita Martin (1875-1958), considered one of the best British photographers of the time, and known for her portraits of suffragists. Date: circa 1910
