This evocative photograph captures the grand entrance of a royal procession into Delhi during the Imperial Durbar of 1911. The scene is filled with a sense of history and tradition as horses laden with precious gifts make their way through the magnificent gates of the Indian capital. The Imperial Durbar, also known as the Court of Delhi, was a grand event organized by the British to mark the succession of an Emperor or Empress of India. The event was held three times, in 1877, 1903, and 1911, and this photograph is believed to have been taken during the last Durbar in 1911.
