They won the cup for most points in the qualifying rounds to go forward to the Yorkshire County Rally at the the Yorkshire Show. The events included stock judging, sheep shearing, tractor driving, Land Rover handling, hand log sawing, auctioneering and valuation, cookery and flower arranging. 1st June 1988
