When you get right down to it... five-year old twins Simeon
When you get right down to it... five-year old twins Simeon and Peter Yianni braved the cold to help complete a line of pennies stretching round their school playground. All 256 pupils of Reinwood Infant and Nursery School, Huddersfield, collected their spare coppers for a month to make the chain of pennies in aid of the Children in Need appeal. The school received £ 1, 000 from the BBS appeal last year and head teacher Mrs June Skillen said this was a way of saying thank you. 17th November 1989

EDITORS COMMENTS
In this heartwarming photo print, we see the incredible determination and selflessness of five-year old twins Simeon and Peter Yianni. Despite the biting cold, these brave young boys joined forces with their fellow classmates at Reinwood Infant and Nursery School in Huddersfield to create a remarkable line of pennies stretching around their school playground. For an entire month, all 256 pupils collected their spare coppers in support of the Children in Need appeal. This act of unity and generosity was a way for the school to express gratitude for the £1,000 they received from last year's BBS appeal. Head teacher Mrs June Skillen spoke proudly about this initiative as a means to say thank you. This image captures not only the innocence and enthusiasm of childhood but also showcases how education can instill important values such as empathy and charity. It serves as a reminder that even at such a tender age, children have the power to make a difference in their community. The photograph is not just a nostalgic glimpse into our past but also symbolizes hope for future generations. It reminds us that acts of kindness are timeless and that when individuals come together with purpose, they can achieve great things. This extraordinary snapshot from 17th November 1989 encapsulates themes of charity, education, fundraising, and camaraderie while highlighting the spirit of West Yorkshire's youth during those memorable years in history.
