Port Talbots dedicated band of unpaid lifeguards took command of a new high speed

Port Talbots dedicated band of unpaid lifeguards took command of a new high speed rescue craft yesterday, courtesy of locally based components firm Borg Warner Automotive.
The Aberavon Surf Life Saving Clubs 12 year-old rescue craft had ended its useful life and the company came up with the £ 2, 720 sea Rider rescue vessel following a personal appeal from the lifeguards. The old one was sold to pay for the new engine.

EDITORS COMMENTS
Port Talbot's dedicated band of unpaid lifeguards were thrilled to take command of a new high-speed rescue craft yesterday, thanks to the generosity of local components firm Borg Warner Automotive. The Aberavon Surf Life Saving Club had been relying on their 12-year-old rescue craft, which had reached the end of its useful life. After a heartfelt appeal from the lifeguards, Borg Warner stepped in and provided them with the impressive £2,720 sea Rider rescue vessel. The lifeguards were overjoyed with this much-needed upgrade and expressed their gratitude during a special handover ceremony. Lifeguard Club President Mr. Doug Rees was joined by Mr. Terry Williams, Director of Operation at Borg Warner's Kenfig Hill Plant for the momentous occasion. This photo captures the excitement and pride felt by both parties as they celebrate this partnership between business and charity. It is a testament to the importance of community support and collaboration in ensuring public safety along Port Talbot's coastline. The sale of their old craft allowed for the purchase of a new engine, further enhancing their capabilities in emergency situations. This investment will undoubtedly bolster their efforts in saving lives at sea. This image serves as a reminder that even small acts can make an enormous difference when individuals come together for a common cause.
