Built in the 17th century for the Robartes family, the house was largely destroyed by fire in 1881 leaving only the north wing, the entrance porch and gatehouse. Built in the 17th century for the esteemed Robartes family, this stately home exudes an air of elegance and sophistication that has withstood the test of time. However, tragedy struck in 1881 when a devastating fire engulfed much of the house, leaving only remnants behind. Undeterred by adversity, a remarkable reconstruction effort took place shortly after to restore its former glory.
