Baby spider. Coloured scanning electron micrograph (SEM) of an unidentified baby garden spider. Baby spiders are called spiderlings. Four of its eight eyes (red) are seen on the head at upper centre. Behind the head is the body with its legs (centre left and right) attached. One of the legs is raised over the front of the head. Below the eyes are the large chelicerae that carry fangs (not seen). They are partially obscured by one of the two sensory palps seen at lower centre. Magnification: x80 at 6x7cm size
