Chelyabinsk meteor fragment ice hole. This event occurred at around 09:20 local time (03:20 UTC). A meteoroid weighing several thousand tons impacted the atmosphere, reaching an altitude of around 20 kilometres as a meteor before exploding in an air blast. Meteorite fragments reached the ground.
