This print showcases a prehistoric jaguar jaw bone, known as C015 / 6761. This fossilized jaw bone hails from the extinct European jaguar species, Panthera gombaszoegensis. Discovered in 1990 at the TD-4 level within the Gran Dolina cave, nestled in the Sierra de Atapuerca foothills near Burgos, Spain, this remarkable artifact dates back approximately 800,000 years. The black background of this image accentuates the intricate details of this ancient specimen. The teeth of this majestic big cat are prominently displayed and evoke a sense of awe and wonder. With its historical significance and archaeological value, it is no surprise that these limestone caves have been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site due to their abundance of prehistoric fossils and artifacts.
