Saturn V rockets F-1 engine

Saturn V rockets F-1 engine. The Saturn V was the launch vehicle for NASAs Apollo program of manned missions to the Moon. The Apollo program took place between 1961 and 1975. The Saturn V was one of the most powerful rockets ever made. Five F-1 engines were used in the first stage of the Saturn V rockets, the stage used during take-off. These engines burnt hundreds of tonnes of liquid oxygen and rocket fuel (kerosene) in around three minutes, lifting the 110-metre high, 3000-tonne rocket to an altitude of 68 kilometres and a speed of 2.4 kilometres per second. Photographed in the Rocket Garden, at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex, Florida, USA

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases the mighty F-1 engine of the iconic Saturn V rocket, which served as NASA's launch vehicle for the groundbreaking Apollo program. Spanning from 1961 to 1975, this ambitious endeavor aimed to send humans on awe-inspiring missions to the Moon. The Saturn V, renowned as one of history's most powerful rockets, relied on five F-1 engines during its initial stage of liftoff. In a mere three minutes, these colossal engines consumed hundreds of tonnes of liquid oxygen and kerosene fuel, propelling the towering 110-meter high and 3000-tonne rocket to an astonishing altitude of 68 kilometers at a staggering speed of 2.4 kilometers per second. Captured within the Rocket Garden at Florida's Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex, this photograph not only pays homage to America's rich spacefaring heritage but also serves as an educational testament to our technological prowess. It stands as a reminder that scientific progress knows no bounds when fueled by human ingenuity and determination. Displayed in this museum-like setting with other artifacts from North America's illustrious space race era, including those associated with Project Apollo and its monumental achievements in space flight exploration. This public exhibit offers visitors a glimpse into humanity's quest for knowledge beyond Earth’s boundaries throughout the mid-20th century. Photographed by Science Photo Library, this image immortalizes both the raw power and delicate engineering behind these historic machines that propelled us towards new frontiers in science and technology.
