Hawaiian Spinner Dolphin pod (Stenella longirostris) underwater in Honolua Bay off the northwest coast of Maui, Hawaii, USA. Pacific Ocean. Spinner Dolphins occur in pelagic tropical waters in all the worlds major oceans. Although they mainly live in the open ocean, they are sometimes found near the shores of tropical island chains such as in the waters off Hawaii. Their greatest population density occurs between the Tropics of Cancer and Capricorn. The total population is unknown, but was certainly dramatically reduced by fishing activity in the eastern Pacific. This species is still regarded as endangered in the eastern Pacific
