Grave relief. Local, Macedonian Marble. Found at Sandanski, formerly Agioi Anargyroi, in southern Bulgaria. Depiction of the busts of a family of four. The relief was discovered on a site on which a Christian church was built in the 19th century. The villagers interpreted the figures of the two children as Saints Kosmas and Damian, the Agioi Anargyroi, and incised the inscriptions next to the two children. This print showcases a remarkable grave relief from the middle of the 3rd century. Carved on local Macedonian Marble, this exquisite piece was discovered in Sandanski, formerly known as Agioi Anargyroi, in southern Bulgaria.
