Sergeant Major, is a species of fish found in the Indo-Pacific region and has a brightly coloured, deep-bodied fish with a yellowish head and dark stripes running along its body and can two large eyes and two long dorsal fins, which are used to help it swim quickly through the water. They are grow up to 20 cm in length and feeds mainly on small crustaceans such as shrimp and crabs. Its diet also includes small fish, molluscs and other invertebrates. This species of fish is an important part of the reef ecosystem as it helps to keep algae growth under control by eating it off rocks and coral surfaces and can be found living in shallow waters near reefs or lagoons, where it forms schools with other Sergeant Majors for protection from predators.
