The Coliseum in St. Martin's Lane, pictured nearing completion with hoardings announcing three stages in one. Designed by renowned theatre architect Frank Matcham for the impresario Oswald Stoll, it opened on 24 December 1904 as The Coliseum Theatre of Varieties. It is now the home of the English National Opera. Date: 1904

Mary Augusta "May" Yohe (1866-1938) - American musical theatre actress. Performing In the title role of Little Christopher Columbus in the Revue Come Over Here, which opened at Oscar Hammersteins London Opera House on 19th April 1913, produced by Wilson Mizner and Max Pemberton - twenty years after her original performance in London of this burlesque opera in two acts, with music by Ivan Caryll and Gustave Kerker and a libretto by George R. Sims and Cecil Raleigh. Date: 1913

The Follies by John Hassall

The Follies, a pierrot troupe founded in 1895. In 1895, Harry Gabriel (H E) Pelissier was a member of amateur entertainers who performed at charity events around South London. He bought the rights to the troupe, and, named as Pelissier's Follies, the new company's first appearance was at Aberystwyth, in Wales and was the troupe's manager and leading perfomer. Many of the troupes sketches satirised the contemporary drama, opera and Shakespeare productions. Date: circa 1895
