2907011 Pitzhanger Manor, Ealing (pen & ink with w/c on paper) by Soane, John (1752-1837); Courtesy of the Trustees of Sir John Soanes Museum, London; (add.info.: Pitzhanger Manor House, in Ealing (west London), was owned from 1800 to 1810 by the architect John Soane, who radically rebuilt it. Soane intended it as a country villa for entertaining and eventually for passing to his elder son. He demolished most of the existing building except the two-storey south wing built in 1768 by George Dance, who had been his first employer. In the late twentieth century, an extensive restoration returned much of the building back to Soanes design. It is now a showcase of Soanes design and also hosts exhibitions and events for visitors.); eSir John Soanes Museum; British, out of copyright

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases the magnificent Pitzhanger Manor in Ealing, West London. The artwork, created by renowned architect John Soane, depicts his vision for this country villa that he owned from 1800 to 1810. Soane's radical rebuilding of the manor aimed to create a space for entertaining and eventually passing down to his eldest son. The image captures the stunning Georgian facade of Pitzhanger Manor, with its two-storey south wing built by George Dance in 1768. Soane demolished most of the existing structure but preserved this section as a testament to his first employer's work. Over time, extensive restoration efforts have returned much of the building back to Soane's original design. Today, Pitzhanger Manor stands as a remarkable showcase of Soane's architectural brilliance and also serves as a venue for exhibitions and events. Surrounded by beautifully landscaped gardens, this regency-era mansion offers visitors an immersive experience into English history and design. Its aerial view reveals an eye-catching vista that captivates all who behold it. With its rich history and exquisite architecture, Pitzhanger Manor is truly a treasure within London's cultural landscape. This print allows us to appreciate both the artistry behind John Soane's vision and the grandeur of this extraordinary manor house.
