The captivating print titled "Virgin Child Saints" by Artokoloro takes us back to the 15th and 16th centuries, showcasing an exquisite pen brown ink drawing. This masterpiece was created by Girolamo da Treviso, an Italian artist born in the northern city of Treviso around 1498-1544. Girolamo da Treviso's talent as a painter and sculptor is evident in this artwork. The delicate brush washes and highlighted white gouache on blue paper create a stunning contrast that brings the Virgin Child Saints to life. The dark brown tinted sheet measures approximately 10 3/16 x 13/16 inches (258 x 274 cm), allowing for intricate details to be captured with precision. Beyond his artistic pursuits, Girolamo also served as a military engineer at the English court of Henry VIII. However, his life tragically ended in Boulogne-sur-Mer, France in 1544 during an attack when he was reportedly killed by cannon fire.
