This masterpiece was created by Girolamo da Treviso, an Italian artist born in the northern city of Treviso around 1498-1544. Girolamo da Treviso's talent as a painter and sculptor is evident in this artwork. However, his life tragically ended in Boulogne-sur-Mer, France in 1544 during an attack when he was reportedly killed by cannon fire.
