Amidst the chaos and intensity of the Advance on Logeast Wood during the final stages of the First World War in 1918, the spirit of camaraderie and competition among British troops shone through. In the aftermath of a successful attack on the German lines, soldiers from various battalions raced towards a captured enemy gun, each vying for the honor of making their mark upon it. The gun, now a symbol of victory, would bear witness to the bravery and determination of the winning battalion.
