This stunning altarpiece, created by the renowned Valencian painter Jaume Baça (also known as Jaume Jaume or Jacomart), dates back to the mid-15th century. The work, which is housed in the Basilica of Santa Maria in Xàtiva, Spain, is a testament to the artistic prowess of the Valencian School during the Renaissance period. The horizontal composition of the altarpiece features the Virgin Mary, seated on a throne, surrounded by various saints and religious figures. The central figure of the composition is Saint Mary Magdalene, who is depicted holding an alabaster jar, a symbol of her penitence and devotion. To her right, Saint Augustine is shown with an open book, symbolizing his role as a Doctor of the Church and a prominent theologian. Saint Bartholomew, identified by the flaying knife and his attribute, the skin, is depicted to the left of the Virgin.
