View of the Lido was built at Baden in the 1920s, sixteen miles from Vienna, to attract more visitors. Vast quantities of sand were imported in trucks and lorries to a six acre site where a new bathing establishment was built. There was an open air bath measuring 360 by 145 feet capable of accommodating 2000 bathers at a time. The whole complex cost an estimated 100, 000.
