Up, up and away in a Dream Machine: Clear the runway, its magnificent Cliff in his flying
Up, up and away in a Dream Machine: Clear the runway, its magnificent Cliff in his flying machine. " All my own work, " said amateur inventor, Clifford Moffat. Cliff, 42, set to work in his backyard at Sawston, Cambridgeshire, to get the thing off the drawing board and into the air. First he tried the hang-gliding system but he was too impatient to depend on wind and weather. Fitting a propeller and rudder and a motorbike engine he was ready for take-off in his cliffhanger. " Its only a matter of time, " said Cliff nonchalently, " before everyone will have a machine and runway in their backyard." " I believe I m the only person in the country working on a powered hang gliding principle." Later he hopes to substitute a car engine instead of the 125cc. pop pop unit he has at present. EDITORS COMMENTS
Up, up and away in a Dream Machine: Clear the runway, its magnificent Cliff in his flying machine. All my own work" said amateur inventor, Clifford Moffat. In this print from May 1977, we witness the audacious spirit of innovation as Cliff takes flight in his backyard at Sawston, Cambridgeshire. Driven by his impatience to rely on wind and weather for hang-gliding, Cliff ingeniously fitted a propeller and rudder along with a motorbike engine to create his very own cliffhanger. With determination gleaming in his eyes, he confidently declares that it's only a matter of time before everyone will have their own machine and runway right in their backyard. Cliff's pioneering efforts are truly remarkable as he claims to be the sole individual working on a powered hang gliding principle across the entire country. Although currently equipped with a 125cc pop-pop unit, he dreams of substituting it with a car engine in the future. This snapshot encapsulates an era where inventors like Cliff fearlessly pushed boundaries and defied conventional norms. It serves as an inspiring testament to human ingenuity and our unwavering desire to conquer new frontiers. As we gaze upon this image captured by Mirrorpix for Memory Lane Prints, we can't help but marvel at Cliff's determination and envision how his dream machine could revolutionize aviation.
