Within the capillary, we can observe red blood cells (erythrocytes) flowing alongside a single white cell at the top. The endothelial lining, consisting of elongated cells forming a single row, is visible as well. Interestingly, due to its relatively large nucleus, an endothelial cell bulges slightly into the interior space of the capillary. In this particular artwork, we witness how one of these endothelial cells has ruptured down its middle.
