EDITORS COMMENTS
This print titled "Rajghat, Rohtasgarh, Bihar" by Thomas and William Daniell takes us on a visual journey to the picturesque landscapes of northern India. The artwork showcases the magnificent Rohtasgarh Fort perched atop a hill, overlooking the breathtaking countryside. The artists' meticulous pencil drawing combined with delicate watercolors brings this scene to life, capturing every detail of the fort's architecture and the natural beauty that surrounds it. The vibrant colors beautifully contrast against the serene mountainous backdrop. As we gaze at this image, we are transported back in time to late eighteenth-century India when Rajghat was a popular pilgrimage site for locals and foreigners alike. A small group of people can be seen climbing up the steps towards the fort, their presence adding a sense of scale and human connection to this majestic landscape.
