Beatus Rhenanus, born in Rheinau, Alsace, around 1485, was a prominent humanist and editor who played a significant role in the printing and dissemination of the works of Desiderius Erasmus of Rotterdam. Rhenanus, whose given name is unknown, worked closely with Erasmus during the pivotal period of the Dutch scholar's career, from the early 16th century until Erasmus' death in 1536.
