The Vicomte, born in 1683, rose through the ranks of the French military to become a trusted advisor and commander under the reign of King Louis XIV. His military career began in 1701, when he joined the army at the age of 18 to fight in the War of the Spanish Succession. Over the next several decades, he proved himself to be a capable and brave soldier, participating in numerous battles and campaigns. In 1720, he was appointed as a Marshal of the Camps and Armies, a prestigious title that placed him among the highest-ranking military officers in the realm.
