Hydropathy became popular in Europe during the 19th century. This artwork is from a collection of illustrations from the French satirical newspaper Le Charivari, published in Paris from 1832-1937. This copy is from the German book Die Karikatur und Satire in der Medizin (Caricature and Satire in Medicine, 1921) by the German art historian and physician Eugen Hollander (1867-1932)
