EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases the regal presence of His Imperial Highness Prince Nicholas Alexandrovitch, the future Emperor and Tsar Nicholas II. The front cover illustration from Le Petit Journal's supplement illustre on November 11th, 1894, beautifully captures his noble countenance in a vibrant color lithograph by Henri Meyer. Prince Nicholas Alexandrovitch, also known as Nicolas II (1868-1918), was the last Emperor of Russia and held titles such as Grand Duke of Finland and titular King of Poland. Revered as Saint Nicholas the Passion-Bearer, he tragically met his fate at the hands of Bolsheviks in July 1918 after abdicating in 1917. In this portrait, Prince Nicholas exudes an air of elegance and authority. Framed within an oval shape adorned with decorative patterns, his bust is depicted with meticulous attention to detail. A well-groomed beard and mustache accentuate his dignified appearance while medals and decorations proudly adorn his uniform. The prince's fur-trimmed attire adds a touch of opulence to this striking image. As heir to the throne, he carries immense responsibility as ruler and autocrat over Russia. Known for being part of the Romanov dynasty, Prince Nicholas symbolizes power and prestige. This illustration originally appeared in a French magazine but has now become part of a private collection. Its historical significance lies not only in its artistic beauty but also in commemorating one of Russia's most influential leaders during a tumult
