Amid the ruins of a bombing raid during the Second World War, London firemen work tirelessly to extinguish fires and salvage what they can at the Shell Mex site on Townmead Road in Fulham. The date is February 1944, and the Blitz continues to wreak havoc on the city. In the foreground, firemen stand beside drums of lubricant that have been salvaged and extinguished.
