EDITORS COMMENTS
This print from the Liszt Collection showcases a remarkable piece of art titled "Characters Caricaturas April 1743". Created through the technique of etching, this second state artwork is truly a masterpiece. The sheet measures approximately 9 5/8 x 8 3/8 inches (244 x 212 cm), making it an impressive display. The artist behind this extraordinary creation is Annibale Carracci, an Italian painter born in Bologna in 1560 and passed away in Rome in 1609. Assisting him in bringing these characters to life is Pier Leone Ghezzi, hailing from Comunanza near Ascoli Piceno and living between the years of 1674 and 1755. Influential figures such as Leonardo da Vinci, Raphael, also known as Raffaello Sanzio or Santi, have left their mark on this exceptional work. Da Vinci was born in Vinci in the year of 1452 and departed from Amboise in France at the age of sixty-seven. Raphael hailed from Urbino and graced us with his talent until his untimely passing at only thirty-seven years old. This print captures not just a stunning piece of art but also pays homage to some of history's greatest artistic minds. It serves as a reminder that their legacies continue to inspire generations even today.
