Suffragette Tea set Sylvia Pankhurst

A Tea set designed by Sylvia Pankhurst for the W.S.P.U in 1909. It was commisioned from the Staffordshire Pottery firm of H.M Williamson for use in the tea room at the Womens Exhibition held at the Princes Skating Rink, Knightsbridge, May 1909. The design comprises the angel of freedom motif in purple and green against the simple white background. The teapot has a green finial and handle, the tims of the other pieces are also in green. The angel figure was designed by Sylvia Pankhurst specifically for the Womens Exhibition. Date: 1909
