Suffragette Lancashire Lass Arrested. A Lancashire lass in clogs and shawl being Escorted Through Palace Yard by two burly policemen. Refers to the incident on 13th February after the convening of The Women's Parliament at Caxton Hall, and the resolution condemning the omission of women's suffrage from the Kings Speech. A march to the House of Commons met with violence from the Police and over fifty women were arrested. Date: 1907

Representatives of regional groups from the Women's Guild of Empire marching along the Embankment, London to demonstrate against the imminent general strike in the UK, 17th April 1926. The Women's Guild of Empire was a right wing organization opposed to communism. Amongst the demonstrators banners are two that read: The Strike Is A Two-Edged Sword and Lancashire's Clemmin (starving) For Peace'. The march will continue to the Royal Albert hall, where a mass meeting will be addressed by the guild's co-founder, British suffragette, Flora Drummond.
