Roy Rogers, " The Singing Cowboy".
One half of the famous duo that thrilled cinema-goers in the early fifties. Roy Rogers minus his famous sidekick " Trigger", the " smartest horse in the movies." Rogers and Trigger travelled the Wild West fighting the bad guys and always with a song or two at hand to lighten up those dull moments. Roy Rogers inherited his title from the original singing cowboy, Gene Autry. There was much talk of a feud between the two, especially when Autry signed up to fight in the WW2 and Rogers opted to stay at home. Autrys absence gave Rogers the chance he needed and he took it eagerly. By the mid fifties Rogers was a household name in the UK as well as the US and this picture of him was taken whilst he was over here to visit his admiring fans. Sadly, Trigger couldn t come.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases the legendary Roy Rogers, known as "The Singing Cowboy" who captivated cinema-goers in the early fifties. In this image, we see Rogers without his famous equine companion, "Trigger" often referred to as the "smartest horse in the movies". Together, they traversed the Wild West, fearlessly battling villains and always bringing a song or two to brighten even the dullest moments. Rogers inherited his title from another iconic singing cowboy, Gene Autry. Rumors of a feud between them circulated when Autry enlisted to fight in World War II while Rogers chose to stay home. Autry's absence provided an opportunity for Rogers to shine brighter than ever before, and he seized it eagerly. By the mid-fifties, Rogers had become a household name not only in his homeland of America but also across the pond in the United Kingdom. This particular photograph captures a moment during one of Roger's visits to his adoring fans overseas around February 1954. Unfortunately, Trigger couldn't accompany him on this journey. The image serves as a nostalgic reminder of an era filled with cowboys and horses that brought joy and entertainment to audiences worldwide.
