After having a record number of passengers last year, Saltburn cliff lifts historic upper ticket office on Marine Parade is due to be renewed.
Owners Redcar and Cleveland Council say the move is part of an upgrade of the popular landmark prior to reopening next spring.
Nowadays, the cliff lift is more popular than ever. Last year, a record number of 167, 781 visitors used the cliff lift, up about 27, 000 on the previous year.
But chiefs stress the new ticket office will be in keeping with the old one.
