Taken from atop a bridge pylon, the image reveals an empty space at the center, eagerly awaiting a deck unit to connect both halves of this monumental structure. The Second Severn Crossing was an impressive feat of engineering that took four years to complete. A collaborative effort between Laing Civil Engineering and French company GTM, construction began in April 1992 and culminated in a grand opening ceremony on June 5th, 1996. Intriguingly captured within this photograph is not just a snapshot of progress but also a glimpse into history. The image transports us back to the vibrant era of the 1990s when infrastructure development was booming.
