This scene is taken from the 1907 production of Tom Jones, a comic opera by Edward German, based on the beloved 18th century novel by Henry Fielding. The opera, which premiered at the Her Majesty's Theatre in London, featured a libretto by Robert Courtneidge and Alexander Thompson, with lyrics by Charles Taylor.
