EDITORS COMMENTS
It's what friends are for. . . that's the message to 12-year-old Cowersley girl Rachel Bray from these children who have raised £22 for a £3,000 Appeal to send her to Israel for treatment of a terrible skin disease. Rachel is a victim of psoriasis, and a visit to the Dead Sea Clinic in Israel could help to cure her. In this heartwarming print captured on September 16th, 1987, we see Rachel's eight-year-old brother David proudly holding up the cheque that represents their community's efforts in raising funds. Together with other dedicated fundraisers from Cowersley, including Christopher Caton, Steven Field, Steven Earnshaw, Joanne Taylor, Debbie West, Adam Taylor, Lindsay Ashcroft and Sharon Ellis; they stand united in their support for Rachel. These young individuals have shown us the true meaning of friendship and compassion as they rallied together to make a difference in Rachel's life. Through car washes and various fundraising activities organized by these kind-hearted children from Huddersfield in West Yorkshire during the 1980s era - they managed to raise an impressive amount towards sending Rachel abroad for specialized treatment. This touching photograph serves as a reminder that even at such tender ages, children possess immense empathy and generosity. Their unwavering dedication showcases how powerful collective action can be when driven by love and concern for others' well-being.
