EDITORS COMMENTS
This print captures a moment in time at the Portishead Dock project in North Somerset. The image showcases a skilled Laing welder diligently working on the construction site, showcasing the dedication and craftsmanship required for such an endeavor. It offers a glimpse into the daily lives of workers during that era and highlights their contribution to important infrastructure projects. The Portishead Dock project aimed to address damage caused by scour and wave action to the lock entrance. This involved removing and renewing sections of the dock while underpinning existing walls.
