The ocean liner " France" is welcomed by US fireboats on February 08, 1962 as she arrives in New York harbor after her first transatlantic trip. - The France was a Compagnie Gnrale Transatlantique ocean liner, constructed by the Chantiers de l Atlantique shipyard at Saint-Nazaire. Launched 11 May 1960, she was put into service in February 1962, combining regular transatlantic crossings - six days and nights - with winter cruises, as well as two world circumnavigations.
