Photo Mug : Bootes constellation
Home Decor from Science Photo Library
Bootes constellation
Bootes constellation. This constellation contains the fourth brightest star in the night sky, Arcturus (Alpha Bootis, lower right), although the third brightest, Alpha Centauri, is only third as it contains two bright stars that are indivisible with the naked eye. As a single star, Arcturus is the third brightest visible in the night sky. Bootes, the bear keeper, forms an elongated kite figure stretching from Arcturus to upper centre. At centre left is the constellation Corona Borealis, the northern crown. This is a small arc of stars centred on the blue star Gemma, or Alphecca (Alpha Coronae Borealis)

EDITORS COMMENTS
This breathtaking print captures the beauty of the Bootes constellation, a celestial wonder in the northern night sky. At its heart lies Arcturus, the fourth brightest star visible to us. Although Alpha Centauri is brighter, it consists of two stars that cannot be distinguished with the naked eye. As a single star, Arcturus shines as the third brightest in our nocturnal canvas. Stretching from Arcturus towards the upper center, Bootes takes shape like an elongated kite figure - a fitting representation for this bear keeper constellation. Adjacent to it on the left side is Corona Borealis, also known as the northern crown. This small arc of stars revolves around Gemma or Alphecca – a mesmerizing blue star that captivates stargazers' imagination. In this image captured by Science Photo Library, we are reminded of our place within this vast universe and how these stellar formations have guided humanity's exploration for centuries. The intricate patterns formed by constellations like Bootes and Corona Borealis continue to inspire astronomers and dreamers alike. As we gaze upon this remarkable photograph print, let us marvel at these distant cosmic wonders that remind us of both our insignificance and boundless potential in an ever-expanding universe.
